A soldier sprints through the smoke past a camera on its tripod and the operator crouched behind it. Filming the beach assault of Apocalypse Now meant putting the camera exactly where the running starts.

Why it matters. Vittorio Storaro was the cinematographer of Apocalypse Now (1979), directed by Francis Ford Coppola. The film won him the first of his three Academy Awards for cinematography. Very few people have seen the film from his side of the camera.

The print. A fine-art photographic print made to order from the Storaro family's behind-the-scenes archive. Available rolled, or framed in black with a white border, in four sizes. Printed and shipped by our professional print partner.
