Apocalypse Now Behind the Scenes: Red Smoke at the Temple Photo Print
Red smoke drifts through the palms above the temple set, painted extras lie across the stone steps, and the camera waits on its mount at the right of the frame. Vittorio Storaro photographed the final chapter of Apocalypse Now from inside the scene, colour and all, exactly as the crew lived it.
Why it matters. Vittorio Storaro was the cinematographer of Apocalypse Now (1979), directed by Francis Ford Coppola. The film won him the first of his three Academy Awards for cinematography. Very few people have seen the film from his side of the camera.
The print. A fine-art photographic print made to order from Storaro's own image, carrying his signature as it appears on the original photograph. Available rolled, or framed in black with a white border, in four sizes. Printed and shipped by our professional print partner.
