Crew members hold large reflector boards up through the dust, bouncing sunlight back into the scene while the action unfolds beyond them. Light, shaped by hand, on the set of Apocalypse Now: the craft behind Vittorio Storaro's images.

Why it matters. Vittorio Storaro was the cinematographer of Apocalypse Now (1979), directed by Francis Ford Coppola. The film won him the first of his three Academy Awards for cinematography. Very few people have seen the film from his side of the camera.

The print. A fine-art photographic print made to order from the Storaro family's behind-the-scenes archive. Available rolled, or framed in black with a white border, in four sizes. Printed and shipped by our professional print partner.
