The camera crew drives a dolly down the tracks through a wall of yellow smoke while soldiers charge past and a helicopter waits behind them. Vittorio Storaro photographed this moment himself on the set of Apocalypse Now, capturing the controlled chaos it took to film one of the most famous battle sequences in cinema.

Why it matters. Vittorio Storaro was the cinematographer of Apocalypse Now (1979), directed by Francis Ford Coppola. The film won him the first of his three Academy Awards for cinematography. Very few people have seen the film from his side of the camera.

The print. A fine-art photographic print made to order from Storaro's own image and printed with his signature as it appears on the original photograph. Available rolled, or framed in black with a white border, in three sizes. Printed and shipped by our professional print partner.
