STORYTELLERS OF LIGHT
Three-time Oscar-winning cinematographer Vittorio Storaro told Rome's story with light.
Rome has always had its storytellers: guides in its streets, writers on the page, voices in a podcast. We invite you to share his stories with the people who listen to you.
BEFORE YOU JOIN
Listen to Storaro tell the story of La Civiltà Romana.
Five years. Two images on a single frame of film.
Around the turn of the 1990s, Vittorio Storaro spent five years following the Roman world through Italy, Syria, Turkey and Greece. Long before digital editing, he layered two images on a single frame of film. The collection is called La Civiltà Romana.
Today, one by one, those images are being given a voice. For each monument, in about two minutes, Storaro tells how he made his image of the place.
You share a story, not an ad.
What you pass on is something your readers, listeners and guests will not hear anywhere else: Storaro, in his own words, at the Pantheon or on the Capitoline. It is free to share and free to hear. If someone falls for an image and orders a print, your link quietly does the rest.
